Hiatus

It's been a while, not sure if anyone actually reads this, but I like having a place to share my endeavors anyway.  It's been a busy spring with baseball, birthdays, school, lots of fun stuff.  Baby Girl's birthday was at the end of May, so per my normal craziness, I made her cake and some other special birthday decorations.
Here is Audrey's cake:
It's made from the Big Top Cupcake pan, you know the one, it's As Seen on TV!  It's a great cake mold, I had a great experience with it.  I got the idea from Cupcake Addiction to make a candy shell for the base.  It could not have gone better.  I bought candy melts from Michaels and melted them and then followed her instructions.  The cake was just a Funfetti cake, nothing special, but I made some yummy buttercream frosting I found online (cannot find the link right now) and then using this as a guide I went to Michaels, bought a tip and did this.  I was so excited I woke my husband up to come and look at it!  It was really fun.

I also made her this birthday banner, although it's a bit hard to see with the sun behind it:

I wish I could say where I saw this to pass on credit, but really I just got the idea from looking at lots of images on Pinterest.  You probably can't tell, but it says Happy Birthday.  I made one of these for my son when he turned 1 and we use it every year.  Kind of cool.
Here is the birthday girl with her cake:

As you can see there, she was pretty dainty with her cake.  The last shot was hilarious to me.  Apparently it was a bit sweet, oooooh!  All and all a pretty special first birthday.

I'm going to try hard to be a bit more regular posting my projects.  We'll see!
